We were commissioned to develop a proposal for the extension of an existing holiday park near the Grade-I listed Constable Burton Hall. The proposal sought to develop an adjacent parcel of land to provide 45 no. holiday lodges, 8 of which would have annex bedrooms, and improve other tourism facilities across the site. This would support, extend and enhance the existing provision on offer, providing an alternative higher quality permanent accommodation and site facilities in an area where the tourism demand is not being met.

To do this sensitively and appropriately, we first embarked on a process of analysis to better understand the features and opportunities of the site, as well as the local character and architectural vernacular.  Informed also by a desire to impact the land as little as possible, we developed a series of lightweight, modular cabins and barns that could be installed quickly onto mini screw piles. These simple timber frame structures would be pre-fabricated off site according to an easy-to-assemble panel system, already insulated, waterproofed and clad in either timber or profiled metal cladding. The two smaller barns, the field pod and mini field barn, could even be transported to site as a completed unit for a further reduction in on-site disruption.
