The first DMR project to reach completion in 2019 will hopefully be a mixed use development on Blackfriars Road. This scheme sustainably re-purposes and extends an otherwise previously brutish 1960’s block to create residential use alongside offices and retail to the front. The design was developed through a careful consideration of context. In particular, we are keen to sensitively balance the character of the Grade 2 listed Georgian terrace adjacent with a more contemporary intervention at the rear, whose volumes were clearly identified by the use of a crisper blue/grey brick. Cantilevered glazed ‘winter garden’ conservatory balconies act as environmental buffers to the interiors, optimising daylight and natural ventilation. #dematosryan Visual by @darcstudio_troy
